The Agenda System Rewrite was undertaken to address the limitations of the original system and align it with the county's current and future needs. The existing system, built using an older library and programming language, was difficult to maintain, costly to update, and unable to meet evolving requirements. This rewrite aimed to modernize the codebase, enhance usability, and make the system scalable, all while improving features such as the review/approval process and role management. A critical goal was also to integrate a Contract Search feature into the system, making it more accessible and efficient for users.

Project Purpose and Problem

The Agenda System was completely rebuilt to modernize the codebase, improve usability, and ensure scalability. Key updates included redesigning the system architecture to support future growth, integrating the Contract Search feature for seamless access to historical data, and enhancing the review/approval process with live status checks and color-coded statuses for better clarity. Additionally, user roles were updated to reduce dependency on programming teams, streamlining maintenance and reducing costs.

The Elections Division required a modernized website to provide timely and relevant information during election cycles, particularly during high-traffic years like presidential elections. The legacy site was riddled with inconsistencies, redundancies, and poor mobile compatibility, making it difficult for users to find relevant information. Maintaining the site became burdensome for both election and IT staff, since updates often required time-consuming coordination via email. Additionally, the site’s content organization did not cater effectively to target audiences, further complicating its usability.

The redesigned elections website prioritized clarity, usability, and autonomy for the Elections Team. The content was reorganized for the target audience (e.g., proximity-based voting locations and user-specific calendar events) and migrated to a content management system (CMS) to enable independent updates. A mobile-first, performance-driven design improved accessibility and usability for a wider audience and training for the Elections Team reduced reliance on IT support.

The Marriage Application Redesign aimed to simplify and enhance the user experience, addressing feedback from usability testing and user input. The project focused on improving personalization, usability, and navigation to make the app more intuitive and user-friendly. These updates targeted reducing user friction and ensuring clarity for couples navigating the marriage application and officiant management processes.

Spouses' names replaced generic terms for a more tailored experience, while fields and instructions were simplified to eliminate confusion. The Utah County Parcel Map application provides an accessible, user-friendly tool for exploring parcel and ownership information across Utah County. Designed for use on both desktop and mobile devices, the application simplifies the process of finding detailed property data. It offers easy search functionality by address, owner name, or parcel serial number, and includes features like historic boundaries, aerial imagery, and digital export options. Originally developed in 2007, the app’s 2023 version delivers a modernized experience to meet the needs of a growing user base.

The Utah County Parcel Map application provides a user-friendly way to search and view detailed parcel information. Users can locate parcels by address, owner name, or unique serial ID, with an automatic map zooming to the selected location. Key features include aerial imagery, historic boundaries, measurement tools, and export options for creating digital printouts. Available on both desktop and mobile platforms, the app ensures accessibility and convenience for a wide range of users.
